Since long before anyone could remember, the salmon have swarmed up the wide reaches of the River Exe on the way to their spawning pools on Dartmoor and Exmoor, where they will once again live out their life-cycle. Ken Pym is 80 years old and most of his life has waded the treacherous waters of the River in pursuit of the silver gold. Every Summer he and a group of grizzled veterans begin their annual tradition, braving anything the weather can throw at them.
